Storm Relief Options

If you were like the many Houstonians who suffered hardships because of Winter Storm Uri, Harris County Federal Credit Union wants you to know we are here to help. We are pleased to announce that we have authorized the following options to help our members recover from this unprecedented storm.

Emergency Assistance Loans are available up to $1000. Loans must be paid back within 12 months and payments set up for autopay or payroll deduction. Loans are available at your current qualifying rate & accessible over the current maximum unsecured limits. Members should apply using our standard personal loan application and add “Emergency Assistance” in the application’s comment section.

Freeze Relief Loans are available to members who need to cover more significant expenses, such as insurance deductibles or more extensive repairs, which are not covered by insurance, for up to $5000. The standard qualifying rates will be discounted by 2%. The loan term may not exceed 36 months, and standard underwriting criteria apply. Members can apply using our typical personal loan application but add “Freeze Relief” in the comments.

Skip-A-Pay: A 1-month payment extension will also be available on eligible loans. Loans must be in good standing and not currently in default. Speak with your loan officer or submit a request online at hcfcu.com/contact-us-form for more information about this offer.

Members seeking assistance with any of these relief options must act before the close of business on March 31, 2021.  All members will need to complete a new loan application if applying for storm relief funds. If you applied within the last week for a loan, immediately reach out to your assigned loan officer to inquire about these offers.
